Abstract:

This paper discusses the role of Generative Scribing and Social Field Resonance in fostering inclusive and transformative learning processes, focusing on sustainability's underlying root issues. The insights are drawn from the WorldEthicForum’s 2023 convening in Pontresina, Switzerland, which adopted a multistakeholder, trans-contextual, cross-sector, and intergenerational approach. The paper highlights the importance of diverse knowledge forms and relational thinking in addressing complex sustainability challenges.

Introduction:

The WorldEthicForum (WEFo), initiated in Switzerland, aims to cultivate a culture of care and kinship, addressing the polycrisis of our times. The forum employs Generative Scribing (GS) and Social Field Resonance (SFR) practices to foster deep, inclusive, and transformative learning processes. This paper reflects on the application of these methodologies during the WEFo’s second in-person convening, exploring their effectiveness in facilitating knowledge and wisdom creation.

Lessons Learned:

The convening provided several insights into the application of GS and SFR in transformative learning contexts. These include the importance of translating experiences into actionable insights, refining the utilization of these practices in future convenings, and integrating emerging insights into diverse contexts. The lessons emphasize the need for continuous participatory action research and the integration of wider ways of knowing.

Conclusion:

The paper concludes that Generative Scribing and Social Field Resonance are valuable tools in fostering inclusive and transformative learning processes. They aid in addressing the root issues of sustainability by enabling diverse knowledge forms and relational thinking. The insights from the WorldEthicForum convening 2023 offer valuable directions for advancing these practices in future sustainability-oriented initiatives.
