Etrit Shkreli

Etrit Shkreli is fascinated by how human beings frame their challenges, the assumptions they make, how this impacts their interactions, and the stories they tell about themselves, others, and their relationships. She studied psychology and politics. Etrit wrote her doctoral thesis on Hannah Arendt’s political thought and then went on to be the co-founder of a parent initiative coop that built a preschool in Istanbul. This was when the Arendian concepts of plurality and political action found embodiment in the beautiful messy reality of horizontal organising through sociocracy.

She learned through practice the art of facilitation, non-violent communication, and the importance of stories in helping people see the world through the lens of systems thinking.

During the pandemic, she joined a group of curious communicators from around the world and they co-wrote The Carbon Almanac.

Her current work is:

🌱 Etrit teaches at Sabanci University in Istanbul, where she helps future engineers appreciate social and political complexity. She is also an active member of the Never Done Before community, a place of exploration and experimentation in the meaning and techniques of facilitation.

🌱 She is also the co-founder of EarthWork Collective, where she co-creates and facilitates hard conversations for climate work. Her latest project is building a course on regenerative practices for small businesses.

Etrits Call to Action for the Transformations Community:

EarthWork Collective is developing a course on regenerative practices tailored for small businesses. Sustainability involves reducing a business's negative impact on the world, while regeneration focuses on transforming our mindset and actions toward the planet, people, and ourselves. Etrit and EarthWork Collective are seeking beta testers and warmly welcome any feedback and insights.

Stories interlace our intricate lives, revealing our unity. They help to transcend isolation, nurturing people and the planet alike. How can we become better listeners of the stories of others? How can we share our stories for more impact?
