Dr. Andrea Jimenez

Dr. Andrea Jimenez is a lecturer in Information Management at The University of Sheffield. She has a Ph.D. from Royal Holloway University of London's School of Management and a Masters's in Sustainable Development. Her research focuses on the role of digital & social innovation as well as entrepreneurship in socio-economic development. Andrea’s current projects are connected to deconstructing assumptions about innovation for social inclusion and environmental sustainability.

Among her projects are:

  • Establish the Metropolitan Water Observatory, a research & citizen science platform for water and data justice.

  • Organizing public policy dialogues to examine the role of indigenous innovations in climate change mitigation.

  • Examining the role of innovation hubs and exploring what values & assumptions would underlie innovation development based on alternative stance linked to Andean cosmovision.

Andrea is recruiting experienced researchers. Are you interested to join an International Advisory Board for her research project?

'A Pluriversal Innovation: Pathways for Food Security and Biodiversity.'

The project's goal is to investigate knowledge as a driver of innovation for food security and biodiversity, through mutual learning and knowledge exchange with indigenous Peruvian organizations. It is based on Andrea's four years of working with Indigenous organizations in Peru to better understand what innovation means from their perspective. It will conduct groundbreaking research into Indigenous perspectives on what innovation entails and how it can benefit food security and biodiversity. This will add to global development discussions about the role of innovation in creating more sustainable and equitable futures.

In addition, at the request of Indigenous organisations, Andrea has facilitated a dialogue between government representatives and them, allowing to share their needs and challenges.

The IAB would be a group of individuals who would meet online once a year to provide advice and support to the project. As Andrea considers herself an Early Career Researcher, she would benefit from a group of senior and experienced researchers. This IAB can also be a group of individuals with whom you could collaborate on additional projects.
